To create a distinctive and unified visual identity for all anniversary events, highlight the university’s cultural connotation and historical heritage, and showcase the spirit of faculty and students in the new era, we  hereby launch an open call for design proposals for the 85th Anniversary Logo of Heilongjiang University, targeting faculty, students, alumni and all sectors of society.

(1) Design Requirements

1. The logo shall be applied to news coverage, themed websites, souvenirs, cultural promotional materials, campus decorations, as well as facilities, certificates, invitations and other items for various 85th anniversary activities of Heilongjiang University.

2. The design shall consist of the logo itself and its application scheme. The logo part includes the mark, standard colours, standard typefaces and combination modes; the application part covers derivative usage on office supplies, conference supplies and other materials.

3. Distinct theme and profound implication. The design shall highlight the theme, fully integrate the 85-year educational history, cultural heritage and spirit of the times of Heilongjiang University, and embody the university motto “Erudite Inquiry, Thorough Reflection, Respecting Nature and Pursuing Truth” and the Heilongjiang University spirit: “Aspire for lofty goals, serve the motherland with dedication, forge ahead through hardship, and strive relentlessly.”

4. Ingenious conception and aesthetic appeal. The design shall feature original creativity, unique character and rich connotations, fully reflecting the characteristics of Heilongjiang University. It shall be concise in form, bright in colour, easy to recognize, visually striking and infectious, suitable for extended design and promotion.

5. All entries must be original works created by the applicants and have not been published in any form.

(2) Format Requirements

1. Hard-copy submission: A4-sized black-and-white and colour drafts (with RGB and CMYK colour values marked). The logo pattern shall be no smaller than 5cm×5cm. A design statement or interpretation of connotations (within 500 words) shall be attached.

2. Electronic submission: A4-sized black-and-white and colour drafts (with RGB and CMYK colour values marked). The logo pattern shall be no smaller than 5cm×5cm with a resolution of no less than 300 dpi. A design statement or interpretation of connotations (within 500 words) shall be attached.

1. All entries must be original and unpublished. In case of any disputes over intellectual property rights or copyright, the university reserves the right to disqualify the applicant. The applicant shall bear all legal liabilities and compensate for any adverse impacts and losses incurred to Heilongjiang University.

2. Once adopted, the copyright and usage rights of the work shall belong to Heilongjiang University. The university reserves   the right to revise, further develop, display and use the work.
